One Time Use 2018
Each image in One Time Use involves a pairing of a common plastic item and its reusable counterpart. The thin, flimsy quality of plastic lends itself to a ghostly expression of an almost invisible existence, suitably echoing its own temporality. After a single use, throwaway objects are discarded and forgotten only to remain on this earth for lifetimes beyond our own. On the other hand, ceramic bowls and glass cups are made to last indefinitely and thus embody a strategically advantageous intention. Though these reusable items are surely not without damaging traits of their own, they exist as obvious alternatives to excess waste and damage. One Time Use pulls these pairings into a visual confrontation, demanding a reckoning with the implications of both.
